Kerala Law Academy (KLA) stands as a center of excellence for legal research, studies, and reforms. For decades, it has shaped legal minds through its academic programs and its acclaimed peer-reviewed research journal, the “Academy Law Review,” which has been in continuous publication since 1977.
About 35th KLA Moot Court Competition, 2026 by KLA
The 35th edition of the KLA Moot Court Competition is organized by the Kerala Law Academy Moot Court Society. It is designed to challenge the research and oratory skills of law students while providing them with exposure to complex legal problems and courtroom procedures.
Date and Venue
The competition for the KLA Trophy will take place in offline mode at the Kerala Law Academy Campus, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The event is scheduled from February 11 to 14, 2026.
Team Composition
- Eligibility: Open to students pursuing a 3-year or 5-year LL.B. degree from institutions recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
- Restrictions: Post-graduate students and correspondence course students are not eligible.
- Team Size: Each team must consist of three members (two speakers and one researcher).
- Institutional Participation: Participating institutions may register more than one team, provided they have official consent from their college.
Awards and Accolades
The competition features a total cash prize pool of Rs. 1,50,000:
- Winner: KLA Trophy, certificates, and a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000.
- Runners-up: Trophy, certificate, and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
- Individual Titles: Trophies and Certificates of Merit will be awarded for:
- Best Student Advocate and Second-Best Student Advocate.
- Best Lady Advocate and Second-Best Lady Advocate.
- Best Memorial and Second-Best Memorial.
- Best Researcher.
Important Dates
- Provisional Registration: On or before December 20, 2025.
- Final Registration: On or before January 5, 2026.
- Clarification Requests: Last date is January 20, 2026.
- Release of Clarifications: January 25, 2026.
- Memorial Submission (Soft Copy): February 1, 2026 (Before 5 PM).
- Desk Registration & Memorial Submission (Hard Copy): February 11, 2026.
- Preliminary Rounds & Quarter Finals: February 12–13, 2026.
- Semi-final, Final, & Valedictory Rounds: February 14, 2026.
Registration Fees
Teams can choose from the following registration options:
- Without Accommodation: Rs. 6,000 per team.
- With Accommodation: Rs. 7,500 per team. Team codes will be allotted within two days of the final registration.
Registration Process
- Provisional Registration: Interested teams must send an email to 35thklamootcourtcompetition@gmail.com by December 20, 2025, to confirm their slot.
- Final Registration: Complete the formal registration by January 5, 2026, by submitting the Proforma provided in the official brochure.
