About the Organisers

  • Bar Council of India (BCI): The apex regulatory body for the legal profession in India, established under the Advocates Act, 1961.
  • BCI Trust-Pearl First: Established to promote legal education, research, and the welfare of legal professionals, including the establishment of model law schools.
  • Assam Royal Global University (RGU): A premier private university in North-East India, known for its academic excellence through 24 Schools of Studies, including the Royal School of Law and Administration.

About the Royal Moot Court Society

The Assam Royal Global University is a student-led body at RGU dedicated to advancing advocacy, legal reasoning, and courtroom decorum. It provides a platform for students to engage in simulated proceedings, develop incisive memorials, and compete at premier national and international levels.

Eligibility and Team Composition

  • Eligibility: Open to all bona fide law students (undergraduate or postgraduate) from any recognized College, Institution, or University.
  • Team Composition: Each team must consist of three members:
    • Two Speakers.
    • One Researcher.
  • Note: Only one team per University/College is typically permitted.

Rules and Dress Code

  • Language: The official language of the competition is English.
  • Dress Code:
    • Ladies: White shirt, black trousers/skirt, black tie, black coat, and black shoes.
    • Gentlemen: White shirt, black trousers, black tie, black coat, and black shoes.
    • Strict adherence is mandatory; failure to comply may lead to disqualification.
  • Accommodation: Provided by the organizers only for the days of the competition. Participants must handle their own travel to/from the airport or station.

Important Dates

  • Registration Deadline: January 10, 2026
  • Clarification Requests: Until January 15, 2026
  • Memorial Submission (Soft Copy): January 24, 2026
  • Memorial Submission (Hard Copy): January 29, 2026
  • Competition Dates: January 29 – 31, 2026

Registration and Fee Structure

  • Registration Fee: ₹3,000 per team.
  • Process: Completion requires payment via the provided QR code/online mode and emailing the registration form with transaction details.
  • Team Code: Once registered, a unique code will be allotted for all future communication.

Awards and Recognition

As per BCI traditions, participants and winners can expect:

  • Winner & Runner-up Trophies: For the top-performing universities.
  • Best Speaker & Best Memorial: Awards for individual and team excellence.
  • Gold Medals: Often awarded to the Best Male and Female Advocates of the final round.
  • Scholarships: Historically, scholarships (e.g., ₹12,000–₹24,000) have been provided to top performers.
  • Indian Bar Review: Outstanding briefs may be considered for publication in the BCI’s official journal.
