About the Centre for Parliamentary Studies (CPS)

The Centre for Parliamentary Studies (CPS) at NLIU was established with the objective of promoting advanced learning in constitutional law, public policy research, and legislative drafting. CPS aims to engage in academic discourse and research projects on contemporary public policy issues, contributing to the holistic development of the Indian legal system.

About the Journal (JLDPR)

The NLIU Journal for Legislative Drafting and Parliamentary Research (JLDPR) is an annual, double-blind, peer-reviewed publication of CPS. It seeks to generate interest and foster academic discussions in the realm of constitutional law, administrative law, parliamentary studies, and public policy. The Journal has featured forewords and commencement notes from distinguished personalities, including Justice Sanjay Karol, Judge, Supreme Court of India, and Padma Shri Dr. T.K. Viswanathan.

Theme and Submissions

JLDPR welcomes original, contemporary, analytical, and unpublished manuscripts on the following core areas:

  • Constitutional Law
  • Legislative Drafting
  • Parliamentary Research
  • Public Policy

The submissions are expected from students, academicians, and professionals, and must demonstrate high standards of academic scholarship and contemporary relevance.

Submission Categories & Word Limits

The word limits mentioned below are exclusive of the footnotes:

  • Long Article: 5,000 – 10,000 words
  • Short Article: 3,000 – 5,000 words
  • Case Comments: 1,500 – 3,000 words
  • Legislative Briefs: 1,500 – 3,000 words
  • Co-authorship up to a maximum of three authors is permitted.
  • All manuscripts must be original and unpublished.
  • Authors must not disclose their identity anywhere in the body of the manuscript.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Abstract: A required abstract, not exceeding 300 words, must be included at the beginning, highlighting the structure and essence of the manuscript (exclusive of word limit).
  • Body of the writing: Times New Roman, Font Size 12, 1.5 line spacing.
  • Headings and Sub-headings: Times New Roman, Font Size 12, Bold.
  • Footnotes: Line spacing of 1.
  • Citation Style: All referencing and footnoting shall strictly adhere to the standards laid down in the Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (4th ed.) (OSCOLA).
  • Substantive footnoting is impermissible.

How to Submit

  • The submissions are to be made only in Microsoft Word Format (.docx or .doc files).
  • Submissions must only be made through the electronic Google Form provided below.
  • Soft copies should be submitted by 31 December 2025.

Deadline

The deadline to submit the manuscripts is 31ST December, 2025 (11:59 PM, Indian Standard Time).
