About Institute of Law, Nirma University’ NHRC Moot Court Competition 2026
The Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU), Ahmedabad, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), is hosting the ILNU-NHRC Moot Court Competition 2026 from February 6 to 8, 2026. The final oral rounds will be held in-person. The last date for initial registration is December 20, 2025.
About The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
The NHRC of India is a crucial, independent statutory body established by the Parliament under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. Formed in 1993 in alignment with the United Nations endorsed Paris Principles, the NHRC plays a vital role in protecting and promoting human rights across the country.
About Institute of Law, Nirma University
The Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU), established in 2007, is a recognized centre of excellence in legal education located in Ahmedabad. Founded by Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel, ILNU is committed to setting new benchmarks in legal education by focusing on innovation, global standards, and nurturing essential professional skills for aspiring legal leaders.
Eligibility Criteria
The competition is open to all students enrolled in either a three-year LL.B. programme or a five-year integrated LL.B. programme. The participating institution must be recognized by the Bar Council of India. Each eligible institution is permitted to register a maximum of two teams for the competition.

- Registrations Open and Release of Proposition: November 25, 2025
- Last Date of Registration: December 20, 2025
- Last date for seeking Clarifications: December 22, 2025
- Release of Clarifications: December 30, 2025
- Memorial Submissions: January 8, 2026
- Announcement of Results of Memorial Qualifications: January 20, 2026
- Offline Researchers’ Test and Oral Rounds (Competition Dates): February 6 to February 8, 2026
Registration Details and Fee Structure
Registration is a two-step process involving staggered fees:
- Initial Registration Fees: A fee of Rs. 1,000/- is required for the initial registration.
- Fees to be paid upon Memorial Qualification: Teams that successfully qualify based on their memorial submission must pay an additional fee of Rs. 5,000/- to participate in the offline oral rounds.
Awards
The total cash prizes for the competition amount to INR 1,10,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Ten Thousand Only), alongside trophies and certificates:
- Winner: A Trophy, a cash prize of INR 50,000/-, and a Certificate of Merit.
- Runners up: A Trophy, a cash prize of INR 30,000/-, and a Certificate of Merit.
- Best Speaker: A Trophy, and a cash prize of INR 10,000/-.
- Best Researcher: A Trophy, and a cash prize of INR 10,000/-.
- Best Memorial: A cash prize of INR 10,000/-.
