S. MAJUMDAR & CO. is looking for an experienced Associate to join our IPR Litigation team in our New Delhi office. This role requires 4-6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in managing litigation in IP disputes, including suits under the Commercial Courts Act.

𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

  1. 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞: Excellent written and spoken command of English language is essential.
  2. 𝐁𝐚𝐫 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Admission with Bar Council is mandatory. Kindly indicate your enrolment ID and status of AIBE in your cover letter.
  3. 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: A firm experience managing litigation in IP disputes is highly advantageous and would be given preference. Experience in managing suits under the Commercial Courts Act is desirable. Knowledge of Civil Procedure is mandatory. Practitioners with prior Intellectual Property experience would be preferred.
  4. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬: Experience and competency with basic programs is essential.
  5. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: We are looking a candidate with a career orientation in IP practice. And thus, applicants with long term goals in IP sector would be given preference.
  6. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: To be ready to deliver high quality work. Ability to work as part of a team spread out in different cities. To analyse and think strategically about cases; to solve problems. To share your knowledge and inputs with the colleagues and clients and to do all this with a smile.

𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

The role essentially includes carrying out the following functions:

  1. Advising on all kinds of IP disputes, including preliminary analysis and long-term expectations from a case.
  2. Attending and managing day to day issues before the Courts, including, administrative hearings before the IPO ;
  3. Drafting pleadings, applications and replies thereto for ongoing and fresh matters, including, preparation of plaint, written statements, interlocutory applications, replies, etc;
  4. Briefing Senior Advocates for urgent reliefs in a time-bound manner;
  5. Conducting legal research to develop arguments to be presented before the Bench;
  6. Participating in the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
