About the school of law
The College of Law, CT University, Ludhiana, was established in the state of Punjab in 2018 with a view to producing promising and credible lawyers with potential knowledge and skills. SOL is regarded as one of the best law schools in Punjab in such a short period of time.
Since its inception, the university has tried varied strategies to impart legal education and execute the curriculum in various diploma and degree programs in law, like B.A., LL.B., BCom, LL.B., LL.B., LL.M., and Ph.D. in law, which are offered in SOL.
About the Competition
In memory of the late Professor, the Moot Court Competition is being held. For more than 30 years, Basant K. Sharma has served as an academician in the Department of Law at Panjab University, Chandigarh. Among his students and the people he’d worked with, there was still a passion for learning and a love of community service.
The Dr. Basant K. Sharma Memorial National Moot Court Competition aims to provide a platform for law students to hone their mooting and articulation skills. In order to develop their analytical and advocacy skills, the participants will be given an experience of courtroom interaction that is not easy for them.
Eligibility
The competition shall be open to ‘bona fide’ students who are pursuing an integrated 5-year or 3-year law program in India from an institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Team Composition
Each team shall consist of 3 students (1st as speaker, 2nd as speaker, and 3rd as researcher).
Each team should identify such speakers and researchers at the time of registration.
The researcher is not permitted to speak except in special cases and only with the express permission of organizers or judges.
There shall be no substitution of any team member after a team has submitted its registration form, except with the permission of the organizers.
Prizes
Winner Team: Rs. 11,000 and Certificates
Runner-Up Team: Rs. 5,100 and Certificates
Best Mooter: Rs. 2,100 and Certificates
Best Memorial: Rs. 2,100 and Certificates
Participation teams shall be provided with certificates of participation.
